I gave a sneak peek from Tessa's session a few days back, but now that I'm back home and in the swing of things again I couldn't resist posting a few more highlights. Tessa's mom, Kari, is one of the most fabulous people and I LOVE that a few years back she and a friend started their own PR agency, INK. So, if you are in need of a PR agency - check 'em out.
Their little family lives in one of the coolest areas of Austin and of course their home was decorated in that fresh, vibrant and funky style to match the neighborhood. And I must confess, I'm hopeful about making another trip out to Austin to see some of these kiddos grow!

I'm in love with my time here in TX and part of that equation was a shoot with little Leo this morning. He rocked out in a totally awesome "big boy" shirt and I must say that these just might be some of my favorite kid shots of all time. Seriously, he looks like a aspiring musician and I love it. We found this amazing location which made it easy for him to explore around and just do what little boys do... run, play, and get dirty.
I also just have to share that someone on the street declared my shoes to be "FIERCE" and that just about made my week! I'm also just having a ball hanging out at my cousin's house, which is perfectly ah-mazing, and her 4 boys. More photos to come of them and Ross arrives tomorrow... I can't hardly wait!

When I lived in Chicago, my apartment was around the corner from this fabulous photography studio called classic kids on W. Armitage Avenue. I was always captivated with the simple, clean beauty of the images that they displayed. Little did I know that those images would be the inspiration for the style of shots that I love to capture now.
There are certain kiddos that I come across that just have that stunning classic look, and it was easy to see that the Weber family most certainly fit the bill... including their sweet lab pup Emma! I have a feeling that this may be their Dad's most favorite Valentine's gift (okay so I might be slightly biased). How could you not simply fall in love with these precious little faces?
Absolutely classic.
And then.... it was time for cupcakes... oh yes. Cupcakes. DE-LISH.
That face says it all.

This was a special shoot for me because this family is one of the first I shot last year. Getting to see them again and see how much Evan has grown and changes since I last "met" him reminds me of how rich these past 9 months have been. How's that for nostalgia? I'm simply thankful for the opportunity to visit with the awesome Schmidt family - thank you Ginny and Andy for just being a joy to hang out with!
I just can't help it... there is something about kiddos in B/W that makes them look so classic. Love it.

My greatest delight is being able to freeze moments, relationships, laughter, and emotion. These sisters, Rebecca and Jeni, gave me a lot to work with and I was loving it! We trekked out to my new favorite spot in Davidson, Fisher Farm! It's owned by the town and we have loved taking Bristol out there to romp and run, but I've been eyeing the fabulous old barns out there and this shoot was the perfect opportunity to put them to good use. We also stumbled upon this fabulous rusted out old truck in the process. Finding fun locations like that are just a perk of the job and as I was telling them that I've stopped at more random places along the side of the road than ever before... a little sense of adventure never hurt anybody, right? If you know of any place that might be cool for a shoot let me know!
Also, I shot my first wedding on Saturday with the help of my dear friend Lauren Kiser... so those photos will be coming soon hopefully. I'm still not sure if I will be really pursuing wedding photography, but it was a great experience to have... more to come on that!

The day after Christmas I got to have a family session with the entire Deladdy family and the session started off with all the girls; 3 sisters and their mom. Julie, the youngest daughter, is one of my college roommates and dearest friends, so this session was particularly sweet for me. As I shot and edited these images of all the girls this is poem by E.E. Cummings came to mind (you may remember it from "In Her Shoes"). There is a unique bond between mother/ daughters/ sisters... and it seems to me that no matter what life throws your way, those bonds hold on tight over the years.
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart
i carry it in my heart
Then we moved on to the kiddos and these guys, well, just look at them...cuteness beyond words!
Cousins, together!!
Little Hannah was loving on her bear...she was such a trooper despite not feeling 100%!
There are so many great family shots that I just simply can't choose, so I'll share my favs of Julie
and her hubs Mac. These photos get to fill in the gap on some of the ones they didn't get during
their wedding... gosh they are so impossibly perfect together.
Okay okay, I'll share this one family shot because this shot has been family tradition for over 20
years... now that all the girls are married and there are 3 grandkids kids, they all barely fit on
the staircase! But I was on the verge of "happy tears" at the thought of all the love, life, and
memories that are represented here...
Thank you to the whole family and I look forward to making this a new family tradition!
